Women’s Team Chosen for Youth Olympic Qualification Tournament

The 2018 Youth Olympic Games NORCECA Qualifier Selection Tournament took place March 3 and 4, 2018 at the Beach High Performance Training Centre in Toronto.  Ten women’s teams participated.

The pair of Erika Vermette, 16, of Manitoba, and Dana Roskic, 17, from Ontario, won the trials, and will represent Canada in Cuba (May 25-28) at the NORCECA, Central Zone (Cuba, USA, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic) qualification tournament.  The winner of this tournament will play in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina (October 6-18). 

Vermette and Roskic will also be part of the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championship team that heads to China in June.

The men’s trials for Youth Olympic qualification will be held next weekend at the Volleyball Canada beach training centre in Toronto.
