Marlene Hoffman’s contribution as a builder has spanned some 5 decades at the local, provincial and national levels – as a player, a coach (high school/club), referee and administrator.

Hoffman’s long-standing involvement with the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association (SVA) began in 1963 as the Women’s Representative, then a number of other roles as well - President from 1974 -1976, Treasurer for more than 20 years and was often the provincial representative to Volleyball Canada.

Hoffman has also served for many years in various capacities with Volleyball Canada.  She joined the Sport Organizing Committee in 1987 and served as chair of this Committee from 1988 – 1999, spearheading the open championships for age class teams and the creation of the National Beach Championships.  She was instrumental in rewriting the entire sport manual on National Championships. Marlene joined the Awards and Recognition Committee of Volleyball Canada and has served as the Chair of this committee since 2000. 

Hoffman has also been instrumental in helping organize virtually every major volleyball event held in Regina, the 1979 and 1987 Western Canada Summer Games, the 1991 Norceca Olympic Qualification tournament, the organizing committees for 4 Canada Cups, the Midget Elites, the World Championship for Standing Disabled Volleyball and the Canada Games in 2005 to name only a few.
