Senior Men’s Team Heads to Argentina on the Road to the Worlds

Aug. 01, 2014: Canada’s men’s team is heading to Argentina for a trip that will be all business in the lead up to the 2014 Worlds Championships, which begin in Poland on Aug. 30.

Canada is travelling with 15 players and five staff, and its first game will be this weekend against Argentina’s B squad.  The full trip is July 31 to Aug. 10.

“It is a great opportunity for our team to accept the invitation from the Argentine Volleyball Federation to play and train there over the next ten days,” said Canada’s head coach Glenn Hoag.

"This will be a hard-working tour for our guys, as it’s the final push in the preparation for the Men’s World Championships in Poland.  We will be able to assess our progress, and come back to Gatineau with good data and feedback for the athletes."

The Canadian men resumed their training at the Men’s National Training Centre in Gatineau, Quebec, on July 28 after travelling extensively for 2014 FIVB World League. The team will begin its final Worlds’ training phase on August 15.

Additionally, a different roster of players will be heading to Mexico next week for the Pan Am Cup.
