NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour Lands in North Bay this Summer!
North Bay, ON – Volleyball Canada and the Vision Volleyball Club announced that they will be co-hosting the NORCECA (North America, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation) beach volleyball tour in North Bay.
Thirty-two teams from as far as Central America will be gathering on Marathon Beach at Lake Nipissing July 11-13 to prepare for next year’s 2015 Pan American Games. This is the first and only Canadian stop for the tour. TICKET INFO NOW ON FACEBOOK
"It is an absolute honour to co-host the first-ever NORCECA tournament held in Canada right here in North Bay with Volleyball Canada," said Vision Volleyball president Amedeo Bernardi, who is also chair of the North Bay organizing committee. "We will witness some of the sport’s best athletes fighting for their international ranking on our beach."
"This tournament will enable us to showcase our city to international visitors and media," said North Bay Mayor Al McDonald. “Sport tourism is a priority for us and community leaders in their sports are making this initiative a rounding success.”
Ed Drakich, Beach High Performance Director for Volleyball Canada, said: “We are very enthusiastic about the opportunity to co-host Canada's first ever NORCECA Beach Tour event…. North Bay has shown tremendous support for beach volleyball events in the past, and Volleyball Canada is looking forward to showcasing the City of North Bay, its volunteers and spectators to the international beach volleyball teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean."
Admission will be free on Friday, July 11 and $5 per day on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. Children 12 and younger are free all three days. Ticket availability and event details will be released soon.
NORCECA is a not-for-profit organization that manages volleyball activities throughout North and Central America and the Caribbean. Thirty-five countries of the International Volleyball Federation are represented in this organization. NORCECA is responsible for Olympic and World Championship qualification tournaments and continental championships for both men, women, indoor and beach volleyball.
