NATIONAL TEAM CHALLENGE CUP (NTCC)
Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce the host locations for the 2016 National Team Challenge Cup and Youth National Development Program.
"The NTCC program is a critical piece of the talent identification process for our athletes. We are very pleased with the quality of the bids received to host from across Canada and are excited to work with very experienced hosts in excellent venues. Ensuring a successful event and high performance environment for the coaches and athletes is our priority," said Julien Boucher, High Performance Director for Volleyball Canada.
The National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC) will see Canada’s next generation of high performance athletes compete for their home province/territory, and have an opportunity to represent Canada with the Youth National Development Program (YNDP).
The men’s NTCC and YNDP will be hosted by Queen’s University and Royal Military College located in Kingston, ON from July 13-24, 2016, while the women’s NTCC will be held at the Richmond Olympic Oval from July 13-17 and the YNDP will be hosted by UBC, in Vancouver, BC from July 17-24.
As part of the YNDP, the junior women’s team will be hosted in Winnipeg, MB, and the men’s youth team will train out of Kingston, ON.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host the men’s National Team Challenge Cup. The state of the art facilities at Queen's University, and the vibrant setting of Kingston are perfect backdrops for the highest level of youth competition that Volleyball Canada offers," said Brenda Willis, chair of the host committee. "Our goal is to offer an exceptional event and experience for all of the teams, their families, the fans, officials, sponsors and partners."
Vancouver will also provide an ideal setting for the women’s event.
"Volleyball BC and the Richmond Olympic Oval are excited to be hosting the country’s best players at the Women's National Team Challenge Cup," said Chris Densmore, Executive Director of Volleyball BC. "Both organizations have strong traditions of hosting excellence, which will make for an amazing event for all participants and spectators!"
