Volleyblast Registration Almost Full - A Few Spots Still Left So Register Now!
WINNIPEG - This March 26-28 will mark the first edition of 'Volleyblast', a youth girls club tournament being hosted by the Winnipeg based National Women's Volleyball Team in conjunction with the Manitoba Volleyball Association. The tournament will be held at the University of Manitoba Investors Group Athletic Centre and will involve competitions in four age divisions: 14U, 15U, 16U and 17U.
Special aspects to this tournament will include an athlete skills competition run by national team athletes and a coaches luncheon featuring the national team head coach Arnd Ludwig, both taking place on Saturday, March 27. In addition, women's national team athletes will be on hand throughout the event for autographs and for guest coaching with each of the participating teams.
Furthermore, in line with the Volleyball Canada LTAD principles, the 14U division will be played with 'Triple Ball' competition format. 'Triple Ball' is a game format designed to accelerate an athletes fundamental skill development, help developing athletes experience more success, and therefore enjoy the game of volleyball more.
The tournament registration is going well but a few spots are still open, so we encourage your team to register now so you don't miss out.
"We're very happy with the response so far to this Volleyblast tournament," stated Arnd Ludwig, the head coach of the women’s national team. "We hope to have 48 teams competing in this first year and we are close to that number already. It is an event that we are planning on organizing on an annual basis, and growing in future years."
