UNB Varsity Reds win National Volleyball Month $1000 draw!

The University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds have been active in growing the game in their community over the past three years. Each September to December, the Reds help coach Grassroots Volleyball every Sunday. They partner up with the local club (Fredericton Reds) to run the Sunday program designed specifically for kids K-2 (boys and girls) and Grade 3-4 boys.

“It's been a great experience for both my team and the kids who have been participating,” said head coach Dan McMorran.

The UNB initiative is nicely aligned with the goals of National Volleyball Month, which are the following:

-Teach and inspire young people to play the game
-Teach elementary school teachers and kids age appropriate games
-Establish "Champions" within schools to lead the development of volleyball programs
-Increase the exposure of our college and university programs
-Create a stream of players into the high school and club systems

Volleyball Canada would like to thank all teams for their participation is this year’s contest and their efforts to give back to the community and grow the game!
