Two more intra-squad matches in Gatineau

 GATINEAU, Que. (November 26, 2012) – The Men’s national Volleyball Full time Training Centre will host two more intra-squad matches beginning this week on Friday November 30 followed by another on December 21.

Both encounters are slated for the Centre Sportif in Gatineau. The public is invited to attend the two events and admission is free. For both games the doors open at 4 p.m. and the match starts at 5 p.m.

“These matches are a great way to keep us in touch with the Ottawa-Gatineau community,” said Full Time Training Centre head coach Vincent Pichette. “We are always getting requests for these matches. It’s an event the players and fans always look forward too.”

The matches will feature national team members Adam Kaminski of Chatham, Ont., Louis-Pierre Mainville of Notre-Dame-de-l’Isle, Que., star setter Dustin Schneider of Brandon, Man.,and Stephen Gotch of Okotoks, Alta.., Also playing are the Hoag brothers, Nicholas and Chris, who are the sons of national team coach Glenn Hoag of Gatineau.

“It’s great to have some senior guys here,” said Pichette. “They have played in big competitions like the world championship. Louis-Pierre and Dustin are both coming back from injury and they are recovering very well, so this is a good test for them.”

Other promising talent such as local star Jonathan Sloane of Winchester and Terrel Bramwell of Mississauga, Ont.,are featured as well. Bramwell was included in the Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd last year after leading Humber College to the national title.

“Jonathan has been one of our biggest surprises this year,” said Pichette. “His progression has been fast. He is tough physically and very disciplined in training. His performances are always improving.”

The first intra-squad match was held on November 2nd

The 15 players are split into two teams – Red and Black- for the matches.
