Training Centre Athletes Wrap Up Their French Tour
The Canadian men’s full-time training centre athletes wrapped up a French tour late last week, with a game against Sète (Pro A).
Sète took the match 17-25, 14-25, 16-25, 18-25. Top scorer for Canada was Steve Marshall with 14 kills. Marshall was consistently strong on offense during the series of games in France.
“We played our most stable game of the trip,” coach Vincent Pichette said of the final match in France.
“Our passing was much better and our block and defense was much more disciplined with 17 and 18 digs in the first and fourth set respectively. Our main issue was converting the many opportunities we had offensively.”
They were hosted by the men’s volleyball training centre (CNVB) in Montpellier, France.

“The experience was extremely rich in learning opportunities again,” said Pichette. This was the second year that the training centre group visited France. “We thank our hosts from the CREPS and the CNVB who were so gracious and generous again this year with providing a high-quality training and competition environment. The information gathered here will be very valuable in finalizing our preparation for try-outs.”
The athletes will be resuming their training at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau on April 7 in preparation for the B team Selection Camp which will take place from May 1 to 6 in Gatineau, Que.
