Toronto’s Redmann and Van Huizen eliminated in beach volleyball World Tour

MOSCOW – Christian Redmann and Richard Van Huizen of Toronto lost their opening playoff round match on Saturday at the fifth stop on the beach volleyball World Tour circuit and were eliminated for 17th place overall.

Redmann and Van Huizen fell to Casey Jennings and Bradley Keenan of the U.S., 21-12, 21-9. The Canadians opened the tournament with a big victory over sixth seeded Germans David Klemperer and Eric Koreng. Then they lost their two final round robin matches before Saturday’s opening playoff encounter.

On the women’s side, Marie-Andrée Lessard of Ville LaSalle, Que., and Annie Martin of Sherbrooke, Que., were also eliminated in first round playoff play on Friday.

The next stop on the circuit is a men’s event in Prague which starts Tuesday.
