Three Canadians headline strong Izmir, Turkey team for men’s volleyball Champions League action

OTTAWA (October 23, 2012) – Three Canadians are on the Arkas men’s professional volleyball squad from Izmir, Turkey that starts its 2013 Champions League tournament on Wednesday hosting Union-Ivkoni from Dupnitsa, Bulgaria.

Arkas is led by canadian men's national  team head coach Glenn Hoag of Gatineau, QC and includes two Canadian national team players Justin Duff of Winnipeg and Gord Perrin of Creston, B.C.

After making it to the final four last year, Arkas would like to go for more success this season. The Champions League determines the top pro team in Europe.

“The philosophy of this club is to go one step further each year and we will do our best to claim good results in this elite competition” said Hoag, Canada’s national team coach since 2006. “It is our first match and we want to play well to make our fans happy.”
