Team Canada puts on a show in the snow

GATINEAU, Que (February 20, 2013)  – For the third consecutive year Volleyball Canada joined Winterlude festivities in Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau for a snow volleyball activity. This past weekend  VC partnered with the Griffons du Cégep de l'Outaouais volleyball team and both programs capitalized on the opportunity to showcase their athletes and programs and interact with the local public.

On a perfect winter’s day,the players took part in demonstration events including a small match between Team Canada and the Griffons; spectators and kids then joined the players on the court for a few exchanges of snow volleyball.

The athletes were also involved in educating and demonstrating proper techniques with regards to serving and passing to the kids on court. Then to see how much they learned, the youngsters put to use their newly acquired skills with some fun games of target serving with the players from both Team Canada and the Griffons.

“It was another wonderful event,” said Canada’s Fulltime Training Centre coach Vincent Pichette. “Each year it gets bigger and next winter we hope we can expand it even some more.  The interactive games are fun for the athletes and the participants.  We are looking forward to continuing our involvement with Winterlude next year.”
