2013 SENIOR WOMEN'S A NATIONAL TEAM
INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of the Senior Women’s A National Team Program is to identify, select and train a group of athletes who have potential, and demonstrated international skill and experience to represent Canada at the elite level. As we enter the new 2013-2016 quadrennial, the intention is to select athletes who have the potential to earn Team Canada a berth into the 2014 FIVB World Championship, the 2016 Rio Olympics, the 2020 Olympics, as well as success at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.
ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for the 2013 Senior National Team Program all athletes must be Canadian citizens as validated by a Canadian passport.

ATHLETE IDENTIFICATION & SELECTION
1. Identification:
Athletes will initially be identified for the Senior Women's A National Team through observation by National Team Staff throughout the club, college, university and professional seasons.
2. 2013 Selection Camp:
Another tool for identification for the Women's National A Team, will be a Selection Camp for any athlete who wishes to be selected to the Senior A team. Click here for all information pertaining to this camp.
PROGRAM GOALS & OBJECTIVES:
1. To identify, select and train athletes who possess the ability or potential necessary to support Canada’s performance at the international level.
2. To identify, select and train athletes who have the potential of earning Canada a birth in the 2014 FIVB World Championship, the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, as well as the 2020 Olympics.
3. Operation of a Full-Time Training Centre (FTC).
PROGRAM PLAN:
Athletes will be supported financially through Sport Canada carding for a minimum of 4 months at $900/month (D or C1 card) or $1500/month (SR card) as well as tuition support for the 2013-2014 academic year. The following competitions on our the schedule for 2013:
June 5-16: X11 Pan American Cup (Peru)
*July 6-17: FISU Games (Russia)
August (dates TBD): Canada Cup (Winnipeg)
September 14-22: NORCECA Continental Championship (USA)
*Please note that this year there will not be a separate B team program. Eligible athletes from the Senior A team will compete at the FISU Games.
