2010 SENIOR WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
*UPDATED March, 2010
INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of the Senior Women’s National Team Program is to identify, select and train a group of athletes who have potential, and demonstrated international skill and experience to represent Canada at the elite level. The goals for the 2010 Senior Women's Team is a top 4 finish at the Pan American Cup, a berth into the 2011 Grand Prix and a top 16 finish at the FIVB World Championships in November, 2010.
The intention is to select up to 16 athletes to train in the Team Canada Women's Volleyball Centre over the summer and into the fall preceding the FIVB World Championships in November. These athletes will be comprised of a combination of young veterans and new athletes possessing potential to lead Canada to achieve their goals listed above and to earn a berth into the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England, as well as longer term success for 2013-2016 quadrennial.
Following the completion of the 2010 FIVB World Championships, the goal is to operate a full-time training centre for the winter of 2011. The goal would be for a minimum of 8-10 identified athletes in place for this extended training period. In 2011, the full-time training centre would again focus on graduated CIS/CCAA athletes to prepare them for international level of training and eventually competition.

Another tool for identification for the Women's National A & B Teams, will be a High Performance Open Camp for any athlete who wishes to have a chance to be invited to the official Selection Camp.
