Saxton and Redmann in must-win situation on World Tour

 MOSCOW (June 9, 2012)- Ben Saxton of Calgary and Christian Redmann of Toronto are in a must-win situation to stay in contention at a stop on the FIVB World Tour beach volleyball circuit.

The Canadian pair lost its opening two matches in the round robin portion of the main draw on Saturday.  They must defeat 21st seed Brazilian pair Thiago Santos Barbosa and Rhooney de Oliveira Ferramenta on Sunday who are 1-1 after Saturday’s play.

In the women’s main draw, Heather Bansley and Liz Maloney of Toronto lost their third round robin match Saturday to finish at 0-3 and do not advance to the playoff round

Canadian teams are battling for spots for Continental Cup Olympic qualifier June 21-23 in Mexico.  The selection will be determined following the next week’s World Tour stop in Rome.
