A resounding success!

Men’s Volleyball Full time Training Centre intra-squad match thrills fans

GATINEAU, Que. (December 1, 2012)– Once again the Men’s Volleyball Full time Training Centre (FTC) held a successful intra-squad match at the Centre Sportif Gatineau on Friday.  It was the second of three intra-squad contests planned before Christmas.

Hundreds of volleyball fans from the National Capital Region attended the match and were treated not only to an exciting volleyball competition but mingled with the Team Canada players afterwards.  Needless to say autographs were in high demand!

FTC head coach Vincent Pichette plans to continue holding these matches and the interaction with the local public on a regular basis.  Already another encounter has been scheduled for December 21 at the Centre Sportif.

“It was a wonderful event,” said Pichette.  “The players were looking forward to it all week and were well prepared.  And the fans got a high intensity match from start to finish.  We thank all the volunteers and the personnel at both the Centre Sportif and Volleyball Canada for their assistance.”

In the match itself, the Red team defeated the Black team 21-25, 25-14, 15-25, 25-23, 16-14.  Louis-Pierre Mainville of Notre-Dame-de-l’Isle, Que., led the winners with 21 points. Rudy Verhoeff of Calgary  responded with 19 points for the Black team.
