JUNIOR WOMEN'S NORCECA CHAMPIONSHIP
July 4-12, 2010 – Dominican Republic

Volleyball Canada announces that it will offer the winning team from the 2010 VC 18U clubs National Championship the chance to represent Canada at the 2010 Junior Norceca Championship. Based on the announced date of the tournament, on Team Canada Volleyball's financial situation as well as VC's LTAD principles and guidelines, Volleyball Canada will not be sending a National team to this event.

Any 18U club team, member of Volleyball Canada for 2009-2010 season, interested in representing Canada at the event must submit a letter of intent to participate (should they win 18U Nationals) prior to March 1st, 2010. This letter of intent should include the information listed in the section below

Volleyball Canada will give 1st right of refusal to the wining team. Should the winning team decline the right to participate in the event, Volleyball Canada would then approach the 2nd place team, then the 3rd place team.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
The 2010 Junior Norceca Championship is a qualifying event for the 2011 Junior World Championship (July or August 2011 - Exact dates and location to be confirmed). It is anticipated that the top 2-3 teams will qualify for the 2011 World Championships.

If the team representing Canada qualifies, it will be given the opportunity to participate at the WC in 2011. Should the team decline participation at WC, Volleyball Canada would then offer the berth to a team selected through a process to be announced later.

ELIGIBILITY

• Athletes must be born in 1992 or later
• All athletes and staff members must have a valid Canadian passport
• All athletes must be Canadian citizens
• All athletes and coaches must be VC members

Please note that Volleyball Canada will not permit the selected team to add athletes from other clubs/regions/provinces to its roster. All athletes listed on the O2 Form must be from 1 club only.

TIMELINES
Deadline for letter of intent to VC: March 1st, 2010
Announcement of selected team by VC: After 18U Nationals
Deadline for submission of official Norceca registration (O2) form: TBD

INFORMATION REQUIRED BY VOLLEYBALL CANADA (To be included in the letter of intent)
Athletes' family name, surname, shirt name, birth date, weight (kg), height (cm), spike height (cm), block height (cm)
Staff members' family name, first name, and role on the team

Note that the official Norceca registration form (O2) requires the names of 17 athletes + 2 liberos (maximum)

Additional information required at al later date
All delegation members' passport number, EXACT name on passport, date and location of passport delivery, expiry date of passport
Individual pictures of all athletes and staff

FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Expenses to be covered by the Host/organizer

• All food and accommodations during the tournament (maximum 12 athletes and 4 staff)
• All local transportation

Expenses to be covered by Volleyball Canada
VC to offer a $10,000 subsidy to cover such expenses as uniform package, flight/per diem for the accompanying referee, registration to the event as well as a portion of the airfare costs.

Expenses to be covered by the selected team

• Flight costs to the event (approximate cost = $800 to $1500 per flight)
• All accommodation and food cost for additional (beyond 16) athlete/staff (Cost = $150.00 USD per day per person)
• All training costs prior to the event
