Olympic run ends for Binstock and Reader

LONDON (August 2, 2012) – Josh Binstock of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Martin Reader of Comox, B.C., lost their wildcard playoff match in late-night beach volleyball on Thursday at the Olympic Games.

The Canadian pair fell to Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo of Italy 21-16, 22-20 in a match thast started at 11 p.m., local time. With the victory, the Italians advance to the round of 16.

Binstock and Reader went 1-2 in the preliminary round portion of the tournament and finished third in their pool. They were one of four third place teams vying for the two remaining spots in the round of 16.
