Nearly 750 teams expected to compete this month at volleyball nationals

OTTAWA – The mammoth Canadian volleyball age group nationals are set to get underway Thursday in Sherbrooke, Que., and Saskatoon with almost 750 teams scheduled to compete at four different events in four different cities across Canada.

In Sherbrooke, the Canadian East Open in the 14 and under, 15 and under and 16 and under age groups are scheduled for the Université de Sherbrooke with nearly 150 teams entered.

In Saskatoon at the Henk Ruys Center, a further 92 teams are ready to battle in the boys 14 and under and girls 14 and under at the Western Canadian Open.

Both the Sherbrooke and Saskatoon events run until Sunday.

Action continues next week with 228 teams marching into Abbotsford, B.C., for the 17 and under and 18 under Canadian Open at the TRADEX Centre May 13-15.

Finally from May 19-23, it’s the 15 and under and 16 and under Canadian West Open with 272 teams invading the BMO Center and the Telus Convention Center.
