National Team Challenge Cup starts today in Winnipeg and Gatineau

 OTTAWA (July 18, 2012)– The National Team Challenge Cup volleyball tournament for men and women starts today and runs until Sunday in Gatineau, Que., for the men and in Winnipeg for the women.

The National Team Challenge Cup is an annual inter-provincial championship featuring the top 19U athletes (women - born in 1993 or later) and 20U athletes (men - born in 1992 or later) from each province.

Fourteen teams are competing in Winnipeg at the National Team Training Centre at the U of Manitoba and thirteen teams are similarly competing at the Men's National Team Centre at the Centre Sportif in Gatineau.

This year’s men's and women's junior national teams will also be selected at the conclusion of the NTCC tournaments. The top 14 females born in 1994 or later and the top men born in 1993 or later will stay and train in Winnipeg and Gatineau respectively through to the end of August.
