'MTS Super Spike' July 20-21

Winnipeg (May 9, 2012)– The Team Canada Women’s Volleyball Centre is excited to announce that the popular ‘MTS Super-Spike presented by Bud Light’, will be taking place July 20 & 21 at Maple Grove Rugby Park.

‘MTS Super-Spike’, which combines Manitoba’s largest outdoor/beach volleyball tournament with a weekend long concert series set in a festival atmosphere, has raised close to half a million dollars to date in support of the National Women’s Volleyball Team.

Last year alone over 7000 people visited Super-Spike where a record setting 278 teams took part. This year plans are to reach a new record mark of over 300 registered teams, and over $100,000 raised insupport of the Winnipeg based National Women’s Volleyball Team.
“MTS Super-Spike has become a staple for Winnipeg summers as one of the best festival events hands down,’ stated Event General Manager Greg Paseshnik. “Each and every year the event has grown and we expect the same this year for good reason; there is simply no other event like it!

Combining beach volleyball and live concerts in a festival setting, all in support of a charity cause makes such a unique product that has been the perfect mix for Super-Spike.”

“We would not be able to function and operate at the level we do each year without the funds generated from MTS Super-Spike,” added Team Canada Women’s Volleyball Centre Director of Operations John Blacher. “The event helps our National Women’s Team attain the level of support needed to continuously compete with the world’s best.”
The headlining musical act for this year’s main stage will be announced Monday May 14th.
Public interested in registering for this year’s event can do so by visiting www.superspike.ca. Early bird player registrations are only $45 per person through to June 15th. Weekend passes for non players will be available Friday May 18th and can be purchased in advance for only $20.
