MTS Super Spike celebrates 10th anniversary July 15-16
Winnipeg – The Team Canada Women’s Volleyball Centre helped announce today that the popular ‘MTS Super-Spike presented by Bud Light’, will be taking place July 15 & 16 at Maple Grove Rugby Park celebrating it’s ten year anniversary. ‘MTS Super-Spike Ten’, which combines Manitoba’s largest outdoor/beach volleyball tournament with a weekend long concert series set in a festival atmosphere, has raised over $300,000.00 to date in support of the National Women’s Volleyball Team.
To celebrate its tenth year anniversary, various celebrations and new initiatives for this year’s event were announced including:
- Bringing back fan favourite Canadian Rock quartet ‘The Trews’ to headline this year’s concert series
- Creating a new ‘masters’ division exclusively for 35 plus adults
- Giving away an ‘all exclusive trip for two’ to a lucky Super-Spike registrant to see the UFC in
- And most importantly of all, the building and addition of six new permanent beach volleyball courts that will have a long standing impact not only on the event, but for beach volleyball in
Last year alone over 5000 people visited Super-Spike, where a record setting 217 teams took part. This year plans are to reach a new record mark of 250 registered teams, and $75,000 raised in support of the
