MTS Super-Spike Announces Record $155,000 Raised

(Winnipeg – August 23rd) ‘MTS Super-Spike presented by Bud Light’, is thrilled to announce that it has smashed records again, raising an incredible $155,000 in support of the National Women’s Team through this year’s twelfth annual event. A further record 432 teams took part in this year’s MTS Super-Spike, which took place July 19th and 20th at Maple Grove Rugby Park. Over 900 games of volleyball were played over the two day event, with ten different bands & various DJ’s performing at what has become one of Manitoba’s premiere summertime festival weekends.

“Super-Spike has again lived up to its track record of being one of the best summer events Winnipeg has to offer,” stated Event General Manager Greg Paseshnik. “We are thrilled with the event’s growth and record registration numbers again this year, and most importantly with the large amount of money we were able to bring in to support our National Women’s Team.”

‘MTS Super-Spike’, which combines Western Canada’s largest outdoor/beach volleyball tournament with a weekend long concert series set in a festival atmosphere, has raised over $700,000 to date in support of the National Women’s Volleyball Team.

Tonight’s third match in the Canada vs Peru International Volleyball Series scheduled for 7pm at the University of Manitoba Investors Group Athletic Centre will also be MTS Super-Spike appreciation night. Volunteers, sponsors and participants will be on hand to celebrate the accomplishment of the event and cheer on Team Canada!
