Lelliott and Saxton fall in first round of qualifying on beach volleyball World Tour

BRASILIA, Brazil – Jesse Lelliott of Kelowna, B.C., and Ben Saxton of Calgary lost their first round match in qualifying on Wednesday and were eliminated at the opening stop on the beach volleyball World Tour circuit.


Lelliott and Saxton, silver medallists a couple of weeks ago on the Norceca circuit (North and Central America), lost their opening match to Jackson Henriquez and Farid Mussa of Venezuela 21-16, 21-18.


There were 29 teams entered in the qualifying round battling for eight spots in the main draw.  Two Venezuelan pairs advanced including Henriquez and Mussa as well as teams from Brazil, Denmark, France, Norway, Poland and Switzerland.


The second stop on the circuit is May 3-9 in Shanghai.
