Indoor rules and recommendations for September 2012

Volleyball Canada would like to thank its membership, Officials groups, Technical Directors and Executive Directors of Provincial and Territorial Associations for their valuable and insightful feedback as a part of this most recent rule change process. VC received approximately 100 emails from the membership that were both useful and thought provoking. The Domestic Development Committee (DDC) reviewed each email and made adjustments to the final version of the new rules and recommendations beginning in September 2012.

While VC will not be able to respond to each email sent, or be able to apply all parties’ suggestions, the DDC is satisfied in the process taken and is committed to a continued dialogue with its partners to enhance and improve our development system.

See below for the new rules and recommendations beginning September 2012.

Many thanks,

New Rule

Fair Play
For Volleyball Canada 14U and younger competitions.

Substitution rules: Players not starting in the 1rst set must start the 2nd set. If there is a 3rd set, the coach has the choice of starting any players.

Implementation of rule: Official or score keeper checks score sheet between sets to confirm players not starting in the 1rst set are on the score sheet at the beginning of the 2nd set.

Special note: The DDC will re-evaluate this rule for the following season to determine if there is a need to establish a specific number of points athletes must play per set. For example, those athletes not starting in the first set must play 15 points before they can be subbed again.
