Czech Republic wins second match over Canada in pre-worlds tune-up

CHOCEN, Czech Republic – The Czech Republic swept Canada for the second straight day Wednesday winning 25-19, 25-23, 25-19 in men’s volleyball action.

Canada, ranked 20th in the world, and the Czechs, ranked 36th, are tuning up for the FIVB World Championships set for September 25 to October 10 in Italy.

Gavin Schmitt of Saskatoon was the top Canadian scorer with 12 points.

The third and final match in the series is Thursday.
