Canadians searching for wins

ROME (June 19, 2013)- The pressure is on Canadian entries to earn some victories in main draw action at the FIVB World Tour stop in beach volleyball after a tough start on Wednesday.

In women’s action both Sarah Pavan of Kitchener, Ont., and Heather Bansley of Toronto as well as Jamie Broder of Victoria and Kristina Valjas of Toronto (IN PHOTO) lost their opening two matches in pool play.

Both teams will need a win in their final round robin match Thursday to advance to the knockout stage of the tournament.

The situation is not as critical for Ben Saxton of Calgary Chaim Schalk of Red Deer, Alta. They lost their opening pool match Wednesday but still have two matches remaining.
