Canadians gain valuable experience against one of world’s bestMAR DEL PLATA, Argentina – Canada’s Full Time Centre team played Personal Bolivar, one of the top professional teams in the world, on Wednesday night and lost 25-20, 25-16, 25-12 to the Argentinean squad at the World Challenge Club Volleyball Cup men’s tournament.
“We are really enriched by this experience,” said Canada’s head coach Vincent Pichette of Gatineau, Que., against the national pro champions which include Brazil star player Giba. “We had trouble with our service reception against a team that is very savvy at the tactical level. We started off well defensively but made some errors on the attack which were very costly.
Nicholas Hoag of Sherbrooke, Que., was Canada’s top scorer with 11 points while national team member Adam Simac of Ottawa followed with six points.
Canada finishes the round robin portion of the tournament at 0-2. It will face the University of California – Irvine in a consolation round match on Saturday. The Canadians also play the American squad Friday in an exhibition match.
