Canadian women ousted on beach volleyball World Tour
SHANGHAI – Julie Rodrigue of Quebec City and Kara Zakrzewski of Mississauga, Ont., lost a heartbreaking match in the second round of qualifying on Wednesday and were eliminated along with Canada’s other two entries at the second stop on the beach volleyball World Tour circuit.
After a first round bye, Rodrigue and Zakrzewski lost to Isabelle Forrer and Sarah Schmocker of Switzerland 29-27, 18-21, 15-13 in 58 minutes, the longest match in the qualifying round.
Rebecca Moskowitz of Toronto and Eve Marie Dansereau-Laberge of Verdun, Que., had a great start to their second match after a first round bye but eventually fell to Susan Blundell and Anna Scarlett of New Zealand 18-21, 21-11, 15-11. Kristina Valjas and Anastasia Danilova of Toronto lost to Erika Nystrom and Emilia Nystrom of Finland 21-10, 21-9.
