KLAGENFURT, Austria – Heather Bansley and Liz Maloney of Toronto as well as Kacie MacTavish of Sharon, Ont., and Julie Rodrigue of Quebec City lost their opening two matches in main draw action Wednesday at a stop on the FIVB World Tour beach volleyball circuit.

Both pairs will need a win in their final round robin matches on Thursday to have an opportunity to advance to the elimination round.

Men’s qualifying got underway Wednesday and both Canadian teams did not advance to the main draw. Christian Redmann of Toronto and Ben Saxton of Calgary lost in the second round while Josh Binstock and Richard Van Huizen both of Toronto dropped their opening match.
