Canadian men's volleyball team set for run-up to Olympic qualifying

OTTAWA — It has been several years since the Ottawa-Gatineau region has played host to a men's senior international volleyball tournament.

As a result, the Canadian team is excited about this week's Pan Am Cup at the Robert Guertin Arena in Gatineau and, while they want to do well, winning it isn't the important thing.

"For the players, it's always a great time when we play at home because we don't get the opportunity very often. It's an important event and they want to do well in front of their home (crowd)," said Canada's senior men's coach Glenn Hoag. "For us, though, it's more of a preparatory tournament for the Olympic qualifications."
