Canadian men bow out in qualifying on World Tour

BEIJING (May 9, 2012) – Josh Binstock of Toronto and Martin Reader of Comox, B.C., lost in the second and last round of qualifying on Wednesday at the fourth stop on the FIVB World Tour beach volleyball circuit.

Binstock and Reader, a career high ninth earlier this season, opened with a victory over Hannes Brinkborg and Stefan Gunnarson of Sweden 22-20, 21-14. But in the second round the Canadians fell to Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst of Austria 28-26, 21-16.

Christian Redmann of Toronto and Ben Saxton of Calgary as well as Maverick Hatch of Comox and Sam Schachter of Toronto were eliminated in the opening round.

A total of eight spots were available for the main draw.
