Canadian beach volleyball star in reality TV show final

MONTREAL – Marie-Andrée Lessard of Ville LaSalle, Que., is among three finalists in the TV reality show Défi des Champions, and is contention to win the $50,000 first place prize on Sunday night.

The Défi des Champions, is similar to American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, except star athletes perform circus acts à la Cirque du Soleil each week. Viewers then vote for their favourite performers. Along with Martin, the other finalists are former NHL player Mathieu Dandenault and short track speed skater Marc Gagnon.

In the final, Lessard will perform a double trapeze routine. The show is scheduled for Sunday at 8:30 p.m. on the TVA network.
