Canada still on track for fifth at Pan Am Cup

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico – Sarah Pavan of Kitchener, Ont., scored 14 points Thursday to lead Canada to a convincing 25-15, 25-19, 25-17 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in consolation playoff action at the Pan Am Cup women’s volleyball tournament.

With the victory Canada evens its overall tournament record at 3-3 and advances to the consolation semifinal round.

Kyla Richey of Roberts Creek, B.C., added 11 points for the victors and Lucy Charuk of Tsawwassen, B.C., eight.

Canada faces Puerto Rico on Friday night. The championship semifinals pit Brazil against Cuba and the U.S., vs the Dominican Republic.
