Canada set for three matches vs French ProsMONTPELLIER, France – Canada’s Full Time Centre (FTC) men’s volleyball team faces three teams from the French Pro A League this week to conclude its two-week European tour.
The first match is on Thursday against Montpellier, followed by Arago de Sete on Friday and Narbonne Volley on Saturday. Sete placed second in the league standings Narbonne fifth and Montpellier just missed the playoff cut placing ninth. The French playoffs start next month.
‘’They are our most important matches on this tour,’’ said Canada’s FTC head coach Vincent Pichette of Gatineau. ‘’We’ve prepared for these three matches and we are long forward to the challenge.’’
On Wednesday played a four-set scrimmage match against the French national junior team winning 25-23, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.
Louis-Pierre Mainville of Notre-Dame-de-l’Ile-Perrot, Que., led Canada with 22 points. Rudy Verhoeff of Calgary added 12 and Chris Hoag of Sherbrooke, Que., nine.
Team Canada arrived here March 17 for a two-week mix of training and matches. They return to their home base in Gatineau on March 31.
