Canada finishes sixth at men’s Pan Am Cup

SANTO DOMINGO (July 14, 2012) - Canada placed sixth at the Pan Am Cup men’s volleyball tournament falling 25-17, 22-25, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13 to Mexico on Saturday in the fifth place match.  Canada’s overall record at the tournament was two wins and three losses.

Dane Pischke of Winnipeg led all scorers in the two hour match with 27 points while Steven Marshall of Abbotsford, B.C., added 15.

Canada’s head coach Larry McKay said: “our reception was very poor and Mexico’s serve was very good which caused problems for us. But the sets we won were well deserved with few errors. Our rivals played better but my team battled until the end.”

Canada was represented by its national B team at the annual tournament.
