Canada finishes seventh at NORCECA Youth Girls Volleyball Championships
GUATEMALA CITY – Canada, represented by the Calgary Dinos under-16 squad, defeated Trinidad and Tobago 25-16, 25-12, 25-22 on Saturday to finish seventh overall at the NORCECA Youth Girls Volleyball Championships.
The victory capped an impressive performance for the Canadians who tallied a 3-2 record losing only to powerhouses the U.S., and Dominican Republic which were in their pool in round robin play.
Megan Festival and Alexa Gray each scored 10 points for Canada while Kacey Otto added nine.
The other team members are Gbemisola Olutogun, Carly Heath, Jen Stephenson, Sarah Pradhan, Emmalyn Copping, Carolyn O’Dwyer, Rachel Lynch, Janelle Hoff and Mariah Walsh. The head coach is Jesse Knight and the assistant coach Natalie Schwartz. Leann Kinvig is the team’s physiotherapist.
The semifinal matches later Saturday are the U.S., against Puerto Rico and Mexico vs the Dominican Republic.
