Canada falls to Dominican Republic at men’s Pan Am Cup
SANTO DOMINGO (July 10, 2012) – The Dominican Republic swept Canada 25-23, 25-20, 25-17 on Tuesday evening in round robin action at the Pan American Cup men’s volleyball tournament.With the win, the Dominicans remain undefeated at two wins and no losses while Canada, represented by its national B team, is winless after two matches.
Braden McLean of Birch Hill, Sask., was the top Canadian scorer with eight points while Max Burt of Gander, N.L., and Jacob Kilpatrick added seven apiece.
‘’We played with little intensity,’’ said Burt, the Canadian team captain. ‘’They were well prepared.’’
In the other group A match, Argentina defeated Trinidad and Tobago 25-10, 25-18, 24-26, 25-11. Argentina is also 2-0 while Trinidad and Tobago are 0-2. Canada faces Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday with a berth in the quarterfinals on the line.
In Group B, the U.S., and Brazil are both 2-0 while Mexico and Venezuela are 0-2.
