Canada ends round robin in third place in pool

GUATEMALA CITY – The U.S., defeated Canada, represented by the Calgary Dinos under-16 squad, on Thursday night 25-14, 25-12, 25-12 to conclude the round robin portion of the tournament at the NORCECA Youth Girls Volleyball Championships.

The Americans, the defending champions, placed first in pool C with a 3-0 record followed by the Dominicans in second place at 2-1, Canada at 1-2 and Jamaica in fourth at 0-3. The U.S., and Dominican Republic advance to the medal round. Canada will battle for seventh place.

Megan Festival led Canada in scoring with six points while Alexa Gray added five.

The other Dinos team members are: Gbemisola Olutogun, Carly Heath, Jen Stephenson, Sarah Pradhan, Emmalyn Copping, Kacey Otto, Carolyn O’Dwyer, Rachael Lynch, Janelle Hoff and Mariah Walsh.

The medal and consolation matches run until Sunday.
