Canada’s Daniel Jansen Van Doorn named best blocker a U23 Pan Am Championships

 LANGLEY, Canada, (October 1, 2012) – Daniel Dan Jansen Van Doorn (far right in photo) was named the Best Blocker at the U23 Pan American Championships in men’s volleyball which concluded Sunday in Langley, B.C.

Van Doorn, a member of the Trinity Western University Spartans which represented Canada at the tournament and placed fourth, averaged 0.95 successful blocks per set.

Brazilian libero, Rogerio Carvalho Filho was named the Most Valuable Player as well as the Best Digger, Best Receiver and Best Libero.  Brazil won the gold medal.

Henrique Batagim, also from Brazil took the honours as Best Spiker and Argentina’s Gonzalo Lapera, was named Best Server and Best Scorer. His fellow patriot, Fernando Arpajou was honoured as Best Setter.  Argentina took silver and the Dominican Republic bronze at the week-long event.
