Canada’s FTC Canucks in Argentina for World Challenge Club Volleyball Cup and exhibition tour

 GATINEAU, Que (September 18, 2012)– Canada’s Full Time Centre (FTC) men’s volleyball team are in Mar Del Plata, Argentina for the World Challenge Club Volleyball Cup September 18-22 and exhibition matches until October 1.  The FTC members train full time at the national training centre in Gatineau.

“We are very pleased to return to this tournament,” said Canada’s head coach Vincent Pichette.  “We participated in 2008 and 2009 and the experience was very beneficial for our young players.  We can acquire a lot of information on our players from a tournament like this which helps us plan our training at the Full Time Centre.”

The other clubs entered at the World Challenge Club Volleyball Cup are the University of California - Irvine, Toray Arrows (Japan), Super Imperatriz (Brazil), Personal Bolivar (Argentina) and Buenos Aires Unidos (Argentina).

There are two pools of three teams and with Canada in Pool B with Toray Arrows Japan and Personal Bolivar.  The Canadians play those squads on September 18 and 19 respectively.  The top-two in each group advance to the semifinals on September 21 with medal matches on September 22.

Canada is scheduled to remain in Argentina until October 1 for series of exhibition matches.
