Abbotsford showcases Canada’s top young volleyball players
ABBOTSFORD – A total of 228 teams competed in Abbotsford, B.C., this past weekend at the 17 and under and 18 under Canadian Open volleyball championships with the tournament centred at the TRADEX Centre.
In all there were close to 4,000 players who competed on 31 courts at six venues, including 19 courts at TRADEX.
It was a great tournament for Ontario clubs as the province won gold in five of the six Tier 1 divisions. Winning Ontario teams were Storm Avalanche of Aurora (17U boys), DRVC of Whitby (17U girls Div. 2), Crush of Toronto (18U boys), Defensa of Burlington (18U girls Div. 1) and the Shotguns of Ottawa (U18 girls Div. 2).
The Calgary Dinos 17 won the 17U girls Div. 1 title.
