The 2012 Canadian Open Volleyball Championships Approach!

(April 5th Ottawa, ON)  - The 2012 Canadian Open Volleyball Championships are right around the corner.  Unlike previous years, Volleyball Canada will be host to the event held under one roof and will see 10 000 athletes battle to be crowned national champions.

From May 17th 2012 to the 22nd, teams will gather at the Direct Energy Center in Toronto, Ontario to face off for Volleyball Gold.

This is the first time that Volleyball Canada will be hosting an event of this size at one venue. No other National Federation have ever held a single-sport National Championships of this size in Canada! This will be a Canadian first! There will be 54 volleyball courts set up in the Direct Energy Centre and over 800 teams participating.

"I am extremely pleased to see our Open Championships move to the next level of combining all events in one location and one venue. The support of Tourism Toronto, HTG Sports Services and the Ontario Volleyball Association will be instrumental in the delivery of the largest National Championship in Canada." said Volleyball Canada's Executive Director Mark Eckert.

In conjunction with the 2012 Open, the National Sitting teams will hold an International Paralympic Preparation Competition called the Canada Cup.  All attendees will have the opportunity to witness international caliber sitting volleyball at its best!
