WINNIPEG –Dane Pishke continues to make a name for himself this season with the University of Manitoba Bisons.
The son of Bisons head coach Garth Pishke has helped the Bisons to a 4-3 record and fifth place in the current Canada West standings.
Last season he was the Canada West All-Rookie Team and named to the CIS Academic All-Canadian Honour Roll. Two years ago he was the Manitoba Volleyball Association’s Graduating High School Volleyball Player of the Year after finishing high school on the honour roll at Fort Richmond Collegiate.

Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce the names of the athletes recommended for carding as part of the 2010 Beach National Team. Sport Canada will approve nominations in accordance with Athlete Assistance Program (AAP) policies and procedures through a review meeting scheduled for December 19th, 2009.

Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce it will hold a fundraising event for the National Men’s Volleyball Team on Friday November 20, 2009 at the Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club in Ottawa. The Men's National Team recently qualified for the 2010 World Championships in Italy. Have fun showing them your support!

PHUKET, Thailand - Marie-Andrée Lessard of Ville LaSalle, Que., and Annie Martin of Sherbrooke, Que., beat last week’s tournament champions en route to a ninth place finish on Friday at the 14th and final stop on the FIVB beach volleyball World Tour circuit.
The Canadian pair, in their first full season together, equalled their best result for 2009. They were also ninth at two other World Tour stops this past summer.

PHUKET, Thailand - Marie-Andrée Lessard of Ville LaSalle, Que., and Annie Martin of Sherbrooke, Que., will look to get back into the medal bracket through the repechage after splitting their opening two matches on Thursday at the final stop on the beach volleyball World Tour circuit.
Lessard and Martin, seeded 16th, opened the main draw with a 21-16, 17-21, 16-14 victory over Lauren Fendrick and Ashley Ivy of the U.S., seeded 17th. The reward for that victory was a match against number-one seed Jen Kessy and April Ross of the U.S. The Americans won 21-15, 21-13.
Canadian pair drops heartbreaker at beach volleyball world tour

PHUKET, Thailand - Julie Rodrigue of Quebec City and Katherine Zakrzewski of Toronto nearly upset the top-seeded British pair in qualifying on Wednesday to open the 14th and final stop on the FIVB World Tour women’s beach volleyball circuit.
Rodrigue and Zakrzewski, competing for the second time together, opened the qualifying round Wednesday with a victory over compatriots Heather Bansley of Waterdown, Ont., and Liz Maloney of Toronto 21-12, 21-13, their first ever victory together in international play.
Canada Global Cup Champions!
Canada reeled off six straight victories to win the Global Cup women’s world senior volleyball championships for players aged 50 and over.
The Canadian team beat Latvia, Brazil, the U.S., and Germany to advance against Russia. The Canadians needed to beat the Russians, the defending champions twice, to take the title.

SANYA, China - Marie-Andrée Lessard of Ville LaSalle, Que., and Annie Martin of Sherbrooke, Que., lost their two matches on Thursday at the 13th stop on the FIVB beach volleyball World Tour circuit and will be ranked 25th for the tournament.
Canada in pool with Serbia, Germany and Poland for 2010 Men’s World Volleyball Championships

ROME – The FIVB, the international governing body for volleyball, announced today the pools for the 2010 men’s world volleyball championships to be held in 10 Italian cities from September 24 to October 10. Canada will be in pool F with Serbia, Germany and Poland and will play its round robin matches in Trieste.
A total of 24 countries were drawn across six pools for the first round of the 17th edition of the FIVB Men’s World Championships. Other host cities are Milan, Ancona, Catania, Florence, Modena, Reggio Calabria, Turin and Verona. The semifinals and finals will be in Rome.
Rodrigue and Zakrzewski make their debut as a team at FIVB World Tour
